Nationwide Protests Planned In All 50 U.S. States As Over 1,100 Demonstrations Target Trump, Musk’s Job Cuts On Saturday

These nationwide demonstrations aim to voice opposition to the dramatic reductions in the federal workforce, which organisers believe are part of a broader effort to dismantle public services, including Social Security, Medicaid, and public education.

Over 1,100 “Hands Off!” protests and meetings are scheduled to take place across all 50 states in the U.S. on Saturday, in response to the significant cuts to the federal workforce, reportedly overseen by Trump adviser and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

These nationwide demonstrations aim to voice opposition to the dramatic reductions in the federal workforce, which organisers believe are part of a broader effort to dismantle public services, including Social Security, Medicaid, and public education.

The protests are being organised by a coalition of over 150 organisations, including Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Service Employees International Union, and the American Civil Liberties Union, according to Yahoo News.

“Donald Trump and Elon Musk think this country belongs to them,” the organisers say on their website. “They’re taking everything they can get their hands on, and daring the world to stop them.”

The organisers accused Trump of keeping to his promise to target his enemies, which they say is not about helping Americans.

“With Elon Musk at his side, he’s attacking the foundations of opportunity: public education, healthcare, collective bargaining and Social Security,” the American Federation of Teachers wrote in a Facebook post.

“This Saturday, April 5, we’re joining thousands nationwide to say: Hands off our Social Security. Hands off our public schools. Hands off our jobs.”

Trump and Musk have argued that the job cuts are necessary to tackle the growing national debt and restore balance to the federal budget.

Both men have expressed concerns about the country’s financial future, drawing comparisons to an individual’s economic situation. They believe that excessive spending without proper management will ultimately lead the country to financial ruin.

Mass protests are being planned in cities and towns across the nation, with the largest demonstrations expected in Washington, D.C., where protesters will gather on the National Mall.

Organisers have advised attendees to use public transit to reach the National Mall, as parking will be limited due to the expected large crowds.

The White House Spring Garden Tours scheduled for Saturday have been postponed by one day for safety reasons, with the Office of the First Lady citing the proximity of public demonstrations near the White House as the cause.

The protest organisers have emphasised a commitment to nonviolent action, with a training session held to teach participants how to de-escalate tensions with police and counter-protesters.

As of March 29, over 250,000 people had RSVP’d to attend the demonstrations, with 45 protests planned across Florida, including near Trump’s residence and private golf club in Palm Beach.

A growing movement against Trump and Musk has taken shape in recent weeks. On March 29, protests under the “Tesla Takedown” banner were held at Tesla dealerships nationwide.

Although former Vice President Mike Pence did not join the “Hands Off!” protests, he voiced his opposition to Trump’s tariffs with a form of protest of his own earlier in the week.

“The Trump Tariff Tax is the largest peacetime tax hike in U.S. history. These Tariffs are nearly 10x the size of those imposed during the Trump-Pence Administration and will cost American families over $3,500 per year. Check Out“Spoiling America’s Golden Age,” Pence wrote in a Facebook post.
