SAD END: Popular Musician Confirmed Dead| Angry Nigerian Youths Set 24 Houses, Silos On Fire

South Korean singer Wheesung was found dead on Monday at his home in Seoul. He was 43.

The singer was found in a state of cardiac arrest, authorities said, adding that a “significant amount of time” had passed before his body had been discovered. They noted that there were no signs of foul play at the scene.

Wheesung, whose real name is Choi Whee-sung, debuted in 2002 and quickly made a name for himself with his soulful vocals. He was massively popular in the 2000s and has been credited with popularising R&B in South Korea.

Over the years Wheesung established himself as a mentor and vocal coach to K-pop stars, even writing songs for some of them. He collaborated with many artists and also performed in K-pop concerts across the world, including in Hollywood. He was scheduled to hold a concert with ballad singer KCM this weekend in the city of Daegu.

His R&B ballads won praise from veteran Korean singers like Shin Seung-hun and Seo Tae-ji. But Wheesung was also no stranger to controversy. In 2021, he was handed a two-year suspended sentence for abusing propofol, a powerful anesthetic which also caused the death of Michael Jackson.

Within days in March and April 2020, Wheesung was found unconscious on two occasions, along with syringes and vials containing etomidate, a sleep-inducing drug similar to propofol. Fellow artists shared tributes to Wheesung after news of his death broke. “Wheesung, let’s sing and make music freely in that place. I won’t forget your pure and clear heart,” singer Yoon Min-soo wrote in a social media post accompanied by a video of him and Wheesung performing a duet.

“Let’s meet again someday and sing together,” Yoon wrote. Rapper Verbal Jint shared posted a black square on Instagram, accompanied with the caption: “Every moment we shared was an honor, and I’m grateful. You’ve worked so hard, rest in peace, Wheesung.”

Angry youths set 24 houses, silos on fire in JigawaAngry youths from Zangon Maje village have razed down 24 houses and 16 silos at Gidan Na Ruwa Fulani Settlement in Taura Local Government area of Jigawa State.

A resident of Gidan Na Ruwa Fulani Settlement told DAILY POST that the incident happened on Monday when a group of people with arms attacked their village on Monday.

He explained that they sighted a large number of people from Zangon Maje village flashing torch lights and chanting war slogans toward their village, prompting all villagers to flee for their lives.Spokesman of the police command, SP. Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident to DAILY POST. According to him, “Police has received report that On 09/03/2025 at about 2145hrs, residents of Gidan Na Ruwa Fulani Settlement, Taura LGA, sighted a large number of people from Zangon Maje Village flashing torch lights and chanting war slogans toward their village, prompting all villagers to flee for their lives.”

He said upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Taura and his patrol team swiftly raced to the scene.

“When they arrived, the team discovered that youths from Zango Maje had attacked and set fire to twenty-four (24) hatched houses and sixteen (16) local granaries,” he said.

He explained that preliminary investigation revealed that the trouble started when one Musa Hussaini, 20yrs, and one Shanu Sule, 26yrs, all of Zangon Maje Village were beaten with a stick and their motorcycle was snatched, hence they raised alarm and mobilised members of their community to the village for revenge.

Shiisu said normalcy was restored and patrols being intensified in the area to avert further breach of peace.

Shiisu said five (5) suspects were arrested and taken into custody, assisting in investigation.

The Command also urged good citizens in the state to strictly avoid taking laws into their hands, advising citizens to direct their complaints to the appropriate authorities for a timely and prompt response.

He noted that anyone found wanting will be dealt ruthlessly.
