BREAKING: The Kennedy family is TORCHING Trump for ruining and closing the Kennedy Center. They did not hold back.
Donald Trump says the Kennedy Center will close on July 4, 2026, claiming it is “tired, broken and dilapidated” and promising to replace it with what he calls a “World Class Bastion of Arts, Music and Entertainment.” He insists the financing is already done and says America will be “very proud” of the result.
To the Kennedy family, this is not just a building. It is a living memorial to a president who believed art, culture, and justice belong to the people.
“Do not be distracted from what this Administration is actually trying to erase,” Joe Kennedy III warned. “Our connection, our community and our commitment to the rights of all.”
Maria Shriver went further, translating what she sees as the real motive behind Trump’s move. “It has been brought to my attention that entertainers are canceling left and right,” she wrote. “I’ve determined that since the name change no one wants to perform there any longer… right?”
Joe Kennedy III reminded the country why the center exists at all. “President John F. Kennedy believed that one day this country would live up to its promise of justice and equal rights for all,” he wrote. “For those beliefs and for his sacrifice, Congress voted to make The Kennedy Center a living memorial to him, as a place built by the people for the people to celebrate what connects us.”
This comes after years of Trump openly attacking the arts, mocking cultural institutions, and treating public spaces like personal branding opportunities. He has repeatedly sneered at artists, critics, and anyone who refuses to bend the knee, while the Trump administration has dismissed cultural funding as wasteful and elitist.
JFK’s grandson Jack Schlossberg did not mince words. “Trump can take the Kennedy Center for himself. He can change the name, shut the doors, and demolish the building,” he wrote. “He can try to kill JFK. But JFK is kept alive by us now rising up to remove Donald Trump, bring him to justice, and restore the freedoms generations fought for.”
This is what authoritarian vanity looks like. Erase history. Slap your name on it. Silence the people who won’t applaud. It is ugly, it is dangerous, and it is exactly who Trump has always been.
