Jeweler behind Simone Biles’ GOAT necklace reveals fans will NEVER be able to buy their own – despite ‘thousands’ of…..read more
The maker of Simone Biles’ goat necklace has been left overwhelmed by fans who are desperate to get their own version of the now iconic piece of jewelry.
Biles, who won three gold medals and one silver across the Paris Olympics, reached out to the California-based jeweler Janet Heller in May to have the piece made in time for France.
The gymnast worked closely with Heller over the design. The piece would usually take three months to be made but with the Olympics so close, Heller and her team got it done in five weeks.
It’s been overwhelming – thousands of people reaching out to ask us if we would make them the goat.
‘I’ve made many gorgeous pieces for many beautiful people but I have to say that this is probably the pinnacle of my career so far.
‘It will invite conversation which in turn leads to the story of how she earned her accolade of “Greatest Of All Time”.’
The piece has 546 diamonds and that were hand-drilled and hand-set into place.
Biles sent fans into meltdown in Paris when, after winning gold in the all-around competition last week, she pulled the goat necklace out and showed it to the cameras.
‘It’s an ode. A lot of people call me the GOAT, so I thought it would be really special if I got one made,’ Biles said to reporters afterwards. ‘And the haters hate it, so I love that even more.
‘It’s just a special part of me that I have here as well as in the village – I have a stuffed goat just to get a reminder. Like, you can go out there, you can do it, you’ve done it before. So let’s go.’
