Jonathan Owens reveals his stance on Simone Biles going to 2028 Olympics in LA – amid his desire to have kids with the USA gymnastics legend
Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens insists he will support his wife if she chooses to compete at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, despite his plans to start a family with the USA gymnastics legend.
The dust has only just settled on Biles’ historic showing at the 2024 Games in Paris, where she swept up three gold medals and a silver to become the most decorated American gymnast of all time.
Yet, talk has already turned to her chances of making it to the next Olympics in four years’ time, which the 27-year-old admits is not a guarantee given her age.
She also revealed earlier this week that Owens, her husband of the last year, is desperate to have kids during an appearance on the TODAY show.
‘He would have had them yesterday if he could have,’ Biles said about the NFL star.
Though while he is keen to prioritize starting a family with her, Owens would still be fully supportive of Biles if she chose to go to LA in 2028.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Jonathan said he’ll be on board for ‘whatever she chooses’ before adding: ‘I’m going to support her one thousand percent.’
‘I can’t make that decision for her,’ he added about Simone potentially competing at the next Olympics. ‘It’s going to depend on how she feels because there’s a lot of sacrifice that comes with it.
Owens and Biles tied the knot back in April 2023 after meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic three years earlier.
The loved-up couple are also set to move into a new home together, with the construction of their property in Houston close to being completed.
Despite stressing that he will be there for her if she heads to LA in 2028, Owens suggested that Biles may feel it’s best to ‘focus on life’ and turn her attention to raising children with him.
‘If she feels like it is time to focus on life… because when you are locked in, you do have to sacrifice a lot and you do miss a lot,’ he continued.
