Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has publicly addressed questions surrounding his past interactions with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, reiterating that he regrets meeting with Epstein and distancing himself from any wrongdoing.

In a brief statement, Gates acknowledged that he had a limited number of meetings with Epstein years ago, describing them as a mistake in judgment. He emphasized that the encounters did not lead to any business relationship or philanthropic partnership, and said he cut off contact after realizing Epstein’s background and behavior. Gates added that he condemns Epstein’s crimes and expressed sympathy for the victims.

The renewed attention comes amid ongoing public scrutiny of prominent figures who had contact with Epstein before his criminal history became widely known. Gates said he has been transparent about the matter in the past and remains focused on his philanthropic work through the Gates Foundation, noting that neither the foundation nor its projects had any involvement with Epstein.
