Kim Kardashian issued a final warning to Taylor Swift, saying, “You need to show some respect in this music industry after I helped you become somebody.”
Swift seemed to revive her long-running feud with Kim Kardashian in a track from her new Tortured Poets Department album titled “thanK you aIMee,” and everyone invested in the drama (read: the entire internet), has been waiting to see if Kim K had a clapback for the pop star.
But based on Kardashian’s first public appearance since Tortured Poets dropped, the official Kardashian Kamp position seems to be: Unbothered. Which, honestly, is a little anticlimactic.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 22, Kardashian did not take the opportunity to address the apparent diss track. Instead, she told the late-night host, “Life is good.” In fairness, Kimmel didn’t ask Kardashian about the feud directly, so maybe she just didn’t have a chance to address the beef.
Once you note that the capitalization in “thanK you aIMee” spells K-I-M, it’s hard to ignore the pointed meaning in the lyrics, which describe a “a bronze, spray-tanned statue of you.” Swift sings in the chorus, “All that time you were throwin’ punches,
was buildin’ somethin’/ And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed, “Fuck you, Aimee” to the night sky as the blood was gushin’.” In the second verse she sings, “And it wasn’t a fair fight / Or a clean kill each time that Aimee stompеd across my grave / And then she wrotе headlines / In the local paper, laughing at each baby step I’d take.
