UPDATE: Amnesty International Submits Petition Targeting Elon Musk and Donald Trump
Amnesty International has reportedly submitted a petition to international and U.S. authorities calling for investigations into Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump over a series of alleged legal and human rights violations.
According to the advocacy group, the petition requests that relevant authorities examine claims of possible foreign election interference linked to Musk’s business or digital platforms, and, if substantiated, consider measures including asset freezes or criminal proceedings. Amnesty has not publicly released detailed evidence supporting the allegations, but stated that its concerns stem from what it describes as the “growing influence of private technology platforms on democratic processes.”
The petition also calls for the impeachment and potential arrest of Donald Trump, citing allegations that include war crimes, misconduct related to immigration enforcement practices, free speech abuses, and renewed scrutiny surrounding previously reported connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Amnesty urged what it described as “transparent and independent investigations” into these matters.
Representatives for Musk and Trump have not issued formal responses to the petition at the time of publication. Both figures have previously denied wrongdoing in connection with similar accusations raised in other contexts.
Legal experts note that while advocacy organizations can submit petitions to international bodies or domestic authorities, such actions do not themselves initiate criminal proceedings. Any potential charges or sanctions would require formal investigations and evidentiary review by the appropriate judicial or governmental institutions.
The situation remains developing, and no official charges related to the claims outlined in the petition have been announced.
